Background

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was started in 1833 in Paris by Blessed Frederic Ozanam and his friends.  They wanted to demonstrate their faith with action.  Today the Society is present in more than 150 countries, with 800,000 members and 1,500,000 volunteers.
